HISTORY
Mancell Girls’ Senior High/Technical School, formerly Mancell Vocational Institute, was absorbed into the Free Senior High School system in April 2022, as one of the newly absorbed pre-tertiary schools by the government.
It is located within Oduom, off the Kumasi-Accra highway, and in the Oforikrom municipality. As a new school which was not captured on the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal, students were admitted manually to begin academic work in the 2022/2023 academic year.
The school started with a student enrollment of one hundred and sixty-seven (167), made up of one hundred and fifty-four (154) boarders and thirteen (13) day students. Programs offered include General Arts and Home Economics even though Visual Arts was one of programs to have been rolled out.
Students have already had a feel of what it takes to participate in some programmes organized by the Municipal and Regional Directorates.
As it pertains in all girls’ senior high schools, Mancell has a structured plan of activities that are observed daily in the school. These daily activities begin from 4:30am up to 10:00pm, when lights in all dormitories are turned off for students to go to bed.
